Modern Languages

French

Students aged seven to 11 are nowadays required to make “substantial progress” in a modern or ancient language, and for most schools, it’s French. I teach from primary level to GCSE, emphasising the key skills of communication, listening, reading and writing.

One-to-one tuition is a perfect way of ramping up those skills, to develop a perfect French intonation and accent

Italian

Italian is my favourite language! I teach beginners and advanced students, whether it’s for holiday, business, or just having fun. I recently finished a beginner course for a student taking an Erasmus year at an Italian university.

And if you’re really ambitious, sure, we can study Dante, Manzoni or one of the hilarious modern playwrights like Dario Fo.

Spanish

For Spanish, I teach beginner and intermediate students of all ages, and a short while ago I completed a course of beginner lessons for a class of two comprising Mum and daughter.

The emphasis, as ever is on communicating, without foregoing the rigour of Spanish grammar. ¡Es un idioma maravilloso!
